MEDIA RELEASE

All roads lead to Corowa during the last weekend in February for the annual Corowa Autofest.

Organisers of the highly successful Shepparton SpringNats Car Festival and the Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier Autofest events have scheduled yet another high-octane event and expect large crowds from across the country to come see the cars fly at the Corowa Airport.

Corowa Autofest will be held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February and will feature events such as Go To Whoa, Motokana, Dyno Comp, Show N Shine, Incar Stereo Comp, Trade Displays, 1/8 Mile Drag Racing and everyone's favorite, the all Mighty Burnout Competition.

Team Extreme will be making a New South Wales appearance and are sure to excite all with their awesome supercharged weapons.

A variety of entertainment is on offer with rides for the kids, merchandise and trade displays. The event is alcohol free, fully catered and is an affordable family day out.

Organiser, Les Adams said that the response since the first announcement of the event had exceeded his expectations.

“We have received entries from every State in Australia and the local Corowa Shire community has been fantastic to work with”.

“The support of Events New South Wales has allowed us to establish the event in Corowa and we are excited to already be looking at running other events throughout the year and certainly intend to make this an annual spectacle”.

Organisers said they anticipated the weekend of horsepower to quickly become one of the most exciting events in New South Wales.

Sport and Recreation Minister Kevin Greene said the NSW Government is thrilled to support the establishment of the Corowa Autofest, which has received a three year commitment from Events NSW.

Mr Greene said the motor sports event will deliver significant economic and community benefits for the region.

“Major sporting events such as Autofest provide a valuable economic injection for regional communities,” Mr Greene said.

“As well supporting the local tourism sector, Autofest will also be a great opportunity for local families to see some outstanding motor sports action,” he said.

Corowa Shire Council Mayor, Gary Poidevin said the Corowa community is going all out this year to welcome visitors and entrants to Autofest.

“A welcome extravaganza is being held and will include entertainment, food and wine in the main street of Corowa on Saturday night and the opportunity for everyone to view the amazing cars on display.”

“Businesses in Corowa are also holding a car boot sale and will run super cheap specials for Autofest visitors between 8.00 – 10.00am on Saturday morning before the event starts. On Friday night, the Hotels and Licensed Clubs will be running special live entertainment and dining”. He said.

“It doesn’t stop there. On Sunday there will be a Supercruise between 7.30 – 10am and the opportunity to enjoy a hearty breakfast on Sanger Street while admiring some of the best cars in Australia”.

A multi media advertising campaign promoting Corowa Autofest has commenced with a focus on TV and Radio in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
