Burnout Rules

BURNOUT RULES
NO COMPETITION SLICKS ALLOWED

A new system being put in this year’s burnout titles and the way entrants will be scored during burnout eliminations on Saturday afternoon entrants have a maximum of 1 minute to impress the judges and crowd any entrant that remains stationary will be disqualified.

Drivers and passengers must have helmet, fire extinguisher, radiator catch can and a 360 degree tailsharft loop must be fitted (the only exemption will be two piece tail shafts).

After your minute is up you will be advised by an official and also a loud horn that time is up.

Sunday's finals entrants will have three minutes to impress but Saturday rules still apply.

THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL

A minimum of 4 judges will be placed evenly around the Burnout area and at the conclusion of each day will meet and compile their scores. Following is the way the burnouts will be scored.

1. Crowd response

2. Continuity of smoke

3. Instant smoke with the entrant proceeding in a straight line for the first 15 meters

4. Driving technique including special turns and the capability to avoid curbs/barriers

5. Presentation of vehicle

6. Blowing a tyre (only one tyre necessary)

7. Judges Decisions Are Final

BURNOUT RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. It is compulsory for all burnout entrants read and understand drivers briefing that are given on arrival at scrutineering. Anyone that do not please ask at the event Office and your queries will be answered.

2. All cars must be seen as street driven vehicles rather than specially built burnout cars.

3. All cars to be assembled with driver at 12.30 at area that will be notified at drivers briefing.

4. All support vehicles must notify Main office before going to burnout area.

5. Burnout must last 70% of the allocated 2 minutes in the finals or points may be deducted

6. No Static Burnouts (this means instant disqualification)

7. Continuing to do burnout after tyres have blown will incur a 5 point penalty

8. Cars must be clean and well presented

9. No retread tyres or well worn tyres are permitted

10. All wheel nuts must in place and checked for tightness

11. No wheel trims or covers allowed

12. ALL Drivers MUST have current drivers license

Scrutineering requirements

Rego : must have current registration. (Club registration is ok)
Brakes : good pedal, no leaks, brakes on all wheels, operating handbrake.
Wheels : all wheel nuts must be fitted.
Steering : no free play, no over stressed u-joints, clearance on all parts.
Suspension : no solid mounts, must have shocks, no excessive bump steer.
Seats : secure anchorage points covered.
Seatbelts : at all seating positions and in good condition.
Glass : good visibility - no broken glass
Engine : no fuel or oil leaks return spring on carby or throttle body, secure battery anchorage and radiator catch can.
Body : no sharp or dangerous protrusions, no rust, structural damage or loose body panels, all closed cars must have a floor pan.
Entrant sticker : must be on car before leaving scrutineering
Burnout cars : must have all the above plus tail shaft loop, fire extinguisher and a crash helmet
Tyres : No competition Slick Tyres are to be used in any of the Driving Events including The Burnout Competition this year. D.O.T. / Vic Roads treaded competition tyres will be allowed
